FAQs

We hope any questions you have are answered here; if not, please complete the form above to submit a new question.

  • Yes, reformer Pilates is suitable for all levels of fitness and at Anthro-Contrology there is a class type for all. We advise all new clients to book in for our introductory sessions. During our first meeting you will have the opportunity to run through your medical history, current concerns and what you hope to gain from your sessions. We will then suggest the most suitable classes and schedule for you.

  • We recommend baggy clothing is not worn, rather regular gym or yoga wear plus grip socks (kindly required for all clients). These non-slip socks are available to purchase from the studio. Trainers are not worn for reformer Pilates.

  • Reformer Pilates is a specialist type of Pilates, using equipment called a ‘reformer’ which consists of a sliding carriage, springs, ropes and pulleys. Our full-body workouts combine classic Pilates moves with challenging resistance-based methods, increasing the intensity of the overall movement and delivering greater muscle-toning and strengthening benefits.

  • Reformer Pilates is a low-impact exercise and aesthetically speaking it’s effective for improving posture and increasing lean muscle and tone. Pilates has benefits for the body and mind beyond weight loss, although if this is one of your goals – and you’re maintaining a healthy balanced diet – it will support this.

  • Reformer Pilates can help you progress from chronic injury or illness back to full fitness. It will also help with any niggling muscular or postural issues that cause you discomfort, restrict movement or prevent you from enjoying certain sports or everyday activities as much as you would like.

  • Yes, at Anthro-Contrology we offer a specialist pre- and postnatal class suitable for those in all stages of pregnancy and beyond (with babies welcome!). Created to empower you throughout pregnancy and help recovery post-birth, it’s the perfect way to help manage the rigours of labour and delivery, and the unique demands of the months to follow. (Please note if you are in your third trimester and have no previous reformer Pilates training, we could not currently accept you as a client.)

  • Once you have had full clearance by your GP/medical practitioner or midwife and have no underlying post-birth conditions then you can return to exercise from 6-8 weeks after giving birth. If you have had a caesarean section, the minimum period is 12 weeks once you have received full medical clearance.

  • We can design a unique programme specifically around the functional requirements, challenges and imbalances caused by your active hobbies, intended to improve your physical performance while reducing risks of injury. In turn, you will perform better, with less effort and greater endurance.

  • There are lots of parking bays on Sheen Road with direct access to our studio. Parking is free up to 8am and after 6.30pm Monday to Saturday and up to 11am on Sunday. Those with a Richmond Residents Card have 30 minutes free parking with additional parking charges applied – see Ringo or Richmond Council Website for full details.

  • You can book online (see link at the top of page) or contact us directly via email at info@anthro-contrology.com.

  • Due to the demand for our classes and our small group setting we require 24 hours notice. If you have purchased a package then no refund will be given if the notice period is less than 24 hours. If you have a membership then £5 will automatically be charged to the payment details we hold on file.

  • No, your membership is free to cancel at anytime. We would request, when possible, to give 4 weeks written notice.

  • Unfortunately due to health and safety reasons we do not allow children into the studio.

  • Please complete the form above and if suitable we will add the question and answer to this page. If you also provide your email address we will reply to you directly, too.
